Pacific Ag. Rentals was created in January of 2001 by Charlie Walker & a Board of Directors. His two right hand men, Bart Walker & Louie Ray, started at the same kitchen table that January day.

Bart Walker started selling agriculture products in the early 90's. He has the product knowledge and the experience to answer your questions or concerns when it comes to finding out what you need to get the job done. Louie Ray manages the PAR mechanics and service technicians in our three branch locations.

Our three Branch Locations in Salinas, 5-Points and Yuma are manned year around with technicians and support staff to meet the needs of your farming operation. We have rental tractors located in Oregon, down through all of the major growing regions of California and into Yuma and Phoenix Arizona. We have established partnerships with the dealers in each area to help us provide the best service possible.

We specialize in renting, leasing and financing any size of equipment package. Being a medium sized business allows us to be flexible and creative in financing equipment. Rent the equipment for a while and return it when you are finished, or we can put it on a lease to own payment plan. We also SELL all of our rental equipment, let us know the hours and model you are looking for and we can find something in our fleet that can meet your needs.

We have a full service shop that keeps our equipment running smoothly. We have radio dispatched service trucks that can repair down equipment in a hurry. Our mechanics have been working in the field for over 10 years and are experienced to handle concerns that arise from the daily use of farm equipment. We can also use our freight companny to deliver the equipment right to your location.

Our large fleet of John Deere, Challenger and Kubota tractors ranging in horsepower from 45 to 560hp. We also have Cat track layers for rent or sale. We are the local dealer for Laser Guided land leveling systems, Harlo 2WD and 4WD field forklifts, Balzer flail shredders, Autofarm and Paradyme Precision Guidance Systems, and a direct supplier of aluminum irrigation pipe and fittings. We carry a large range of tillage equipment, starting from shovels and sweeps to discs and rippers.

Charlie had been struggling with cancer since being diagnosed in 2008 and had been unable to come into the office since October 2009. He attended his last Investor Meeting on March 24th 2010 and met the Lord on the evening of March 28th 2010.

There are not enough words to describe the man that he was and what he accomplished. He was a true representation of the “American Dream”. Charlie came from nothing, was brought up by his Grandmother in the Coal Mountains of north east Tennessee. His parents made random appearances to check up on him. Charlie never made it past the third grade. Whatever he had worked for, his uncles would try to steal from him. He met his brother Bill and his sister Mary for the first time when he was 6, Charlie gave Bill his first pair of shoes that day. At 16 he joined the Army and left that poverty stricken area. After the Army he came to rest in California. Working different jobs at Nulaid Foods, Service Soft and then selling appliances at Sears. That was commission only and Charlie worked the crowd. In 1964 he started up with Farmers Mercantile and started selling International Harvester tractors, and the Salinas Valley turned red with color. Charlie helped design and import the first SAME tractors in the US. He tried to buy Farmers Mercantile from Al Hanson in the late 80’s, but Al was not ready to sell. Charlie left Farmers Mercantile in 1988 and started the first tractor rental company in California naming it Salinas Equipment Distributors. His brother Bill joined him a little later and the rest was history. They built up the business in the Salinas and Yuma growing areas. Charlie sold that business to RDO in 1998 and after a 2 year non-compete started up Pacific Ag Rentals with his son, Bart, and Louie Ray. At the start of 2001 our fleet consisted of 2 John Deere 6410’s that we purchased and put on a monthly rental contract to a local farmer. Charlie passed the torch in 2010 to his Team and they continue forward with his dream, the American Dream.

We are easy to do business with.
